The Lett's took it all!

We had what we hope will be an annual raffle yesterday in the Wellington Arms. With spanners and a tattoo on offer we were truely blessed with gifts. We managed to raise £92.50. Thank you to everyone that made the evening happen.  Also thank you to Bob who allowed us to use his lovely pub, The Wellington Arms, for our Christmas Party.

We are famous!

Colin and I went to represent FTRass for a possibility of winning £1000!

Plans Approved

Plans for the redevelopment of the Park Hotel have been approved!

The proposal was passed unanimously, Stella spoke about her concerns over parking and asked if non permit parking hours could be extended to 7 or 8pm.

Jeremy Molton spoke in support of Orchard Homes.  Mark Sennit (Orchard Homes) emphasised to the meeting that OH had changed their plans, from demolition to rebuild, under pressure and 2 meetings with FRTass.

It is a mixed outcome but overall the main aim was to retain the pub building which has been achieved.

The day of the Dig!

The day finally arrived and was it a day! The sun was out and as Joe and Dan said "it was like a summer's day in Newcastle"! In fact once we got digging the jackets started coming off. All except Simon but he did his bit none the less.

Start of the day

Dave arrives looking the part

The day started off with Dave bending the fork within the first five minutes. It progressed to a polite round of who could find the longest and largest root. But once Dan had found a flag stone and sleepy Zak came along, the competition became fierce. The jury is still out on who found the largest, longest or the heaviest stone. In the meantime, young Femi had decided to rebuild Stone Henge with the multiple of bricks that Colin kept unearthing!

Still trying to find the longest root

Zak arrives just as the tea and cake come in

Well earned break

This cake isn't half bad!

The detail work begins

Colin finding the border of the old house

That's a wrap folks

Ok one more!

All in all it was a great day for all who could make it, so thanks to everyone (Colin, Carolyn, Femi, Dave, Simon, Dan, Joe, Zak and Yuen Yee).

The ground is ready...

Today was the last day of blood, sweat and tears given by Community Payback. The guys were able to clear the top cover of plants as well as clear some rubble. Can I take this opportunity to officially thank everyone involved in clearing the site. Am sure you will all agree that they have done an amazing job.

Now for our turn, we need to dig the ground over to erradicate established roots. We are proposing a digging party on 18th November 2012 (next Sun) from 12pm . So why not come along and prepare the ground for your tat's and peas next year?

The Park Saved but not as a pub

When the association was formed it was in view of saving the Park Hotel building. Through what seems like years of despair Orchard Homes have submitted plans to redevelop the the existing building.

It has been a long fight to get to here. It shows what can be achieved by a small group of people. Well done everyone.

The not so Big Dig...

The waste ground donated to us by Southern Finance is looking better than in previous years. With the help of Community Payback who cut back the over-growth. But the work has just began, we now need to have a big dig to remove the well established roots. Colin and myself (Erick) have already had a trial run which was enjoyable and even managed to plant some garlic donated to us by the Isle of Wight Garlic Farm.
